Personal Insights

This film presents a gripping storyline designer around how far a mother is willing to go, to save her child. Kate Drummond successfully plays the character of Maria, a more tough and determined character in the story and Drummond doesn’t disappoint. Tyssen Smith brings out Jackson’s character with varying degrees of vulnerability and desperation, capturing the character’s internal conflict. The story is further enhanced by the two supporting actors, Carson MacCormac and Brennan Clost, who both add unpleasant but necessary tension to the film’s dramatic story arc.

Cultural Significance

In the film “My Son’s Deception”, writer and director Bayo Akinwunmi draws attention to the often ignored problem of the youth exploitation in the communities. With an emphasis on one family’s struggle against such a deep-rooted threat, the movie fuels consideration why young people get into unpleasant situations, and why this or that situation exists which allows for such abuse. This is a strong justification of the need for parents to be active and for the communities to ever be on the lookout protecting the youth from abuse.

To conclude, “My Son’s Deception” is a gripping thriller that will keep the viewer engrossed courtesy of its powerful performances, and also make him/her think because of the issues it raises within society, and this makes the film stand out in the current Canadian film industry.
