Mannen som slutade röka (The Man Who Quit Smoking)
”Mannen som slutade röka” is a movie about love that came out in 1972. It was directed by Tage Danielsson and was a comedy based on a comedy novel written by himself. The film is a part of the stupendous films produced by the legendary pair Hasse and Tage who were famous for their good social sense and humor.
Synopsis
The movie revolves around Dante Alighieri (Gösta Ekman), an unhealthy young man who smokes heavily until his father,__ Hugo Alighieri,(Toivo Pawlo) dies. Dante becomes the inheritor of a load of 17 million kronor but there is a hitch, he has to stay without smoking for a whole year.
If he does not succeed in the task, the inheritance will be claimed by his cunning uncle, Knut-Birger (Holger Löwenadler). The narrative follows Dante’s funny and almost surrealistic attempt to kick his vice, his uncle’s attempts at undermining him, and the winding up of an out of the ordinary universe of a search for himself, temptation and really ridiculous situations.
