A light-hearted, but progressive tale about Veda and Arjun, a couple that gets matched thru an arranged marriage. When Veda’s grandmother bluntly states the need for sexual compatibility before marriage, the two decide to try to incorporate the physical aspect in their relationship. What transpires is a truly honest depiction of the journey from initial discomfort to emotional intimacy and everything in between as they confront culturally accepted norms.

  1. The Mirror (Directed by Konkona Sen Sharma)

An eerie, near-silent story revolves around an upper-middle class single woman, Ishita, who comes across her maid Seema clandestinely using her apartment for a sexual rendezvous with her husband. Instead of addressing the couple, Ishita overtly observes the couple, straddling the line between severe class disparity, voyeurism, and female sexuality. This segment is both strangling and profoundly reflective.

  1. Sex with the Ex (Directed by Sujoy Ghosh)

After a car crash, tech CEO Vijay finds himself stranded with his equally enigmatic ex-wife Shanti in a car during a downpour. As the night drags on and they talk, long-buried issues come to the surface and expose the couple’s relationship. A sharp twist flips the entire narrative, exposing themes of betrayal tempered with guilt and ferocious, pent-up anger.

  1. Tilchatta (Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma)

Devyani, a prisoner of a high society lifestyle, is in a physically and emotionally abusive marriage to Suraj Singh. In an attempt to take back charge of her life and defend her child, she hires a new help, Rekha, with a seemingly benign past. What follows is a story of revenge and moral ambiguity as things spiral out of control, turning Devyani’s meticulous plans upside down.

Women Empowerment & Sexuality: In every narrative, there is a considerable emphasis on women’s desires, whether it concerns problem resolution, dealing with confrontational pasts, or freedom exploration in a patriarchy.

Gaps in Generational Cohorts and Class: From the elderly advocating for pre-marital relations to domestic workers re imagining their relationships, the anthology portrays the attitude of different classes and ages toward intimacy.

Amoral Ethics: Characters are complex, flawed beings. The act of cheating, spying, or vengeance is not executed in a binary fashion, encouraging the audience to explore moral judgement.

What Isn’t Said Is More Important: More so in “The Mirror” and “Tilchatta,” what is not uttered bears significantly more importance.

🏆 Concerns Raised By Critics

Critics focused on the lack of active surveillance of the ladies’ stories regarding their intimacy and interrelations with other people later on. Lust Stories 2 has, however, been acclaimed for the impressive performances from the cast and superb visuals. Most notably her performance in the mirror was exalted for how daring it was alongside the stunning work by Amruta Subhash on the role.
