“Harmony, Damien, and Adam are to join him for a weekend of hiking, partying, and treasure hunting,” says the backseat driver in a scrolling text. Group therapy desperately needed. Screaming, mystery, and all the woods have to offer—until they take a wrong turn.

The cast can tell rather quickly that they are not the only ones in the woods. At night, they are stalked by a killer who is a cannibal—a predator who strikes without making a sound and takes pleasure in his cruel deeds. Gradually, the film becomes more mature and the curse begins to transform into reality as the teens start to fall into his jaws, one after the other.
The monstrous figure know only as Crispy serves as the fuel of the legend and brings alive the secrets that sleep in the woods. Melanie tries to rescue her brother from the brink using her telepathic bond with him, which morphs the story into a chaotic struggle to stay alive.

Ricky is no doubt the bravest character in the movie as he is willing to take risks that come with discomfort. The under-development of Ricky’s emotional side makes Branum’s portrayal of the character teenage confident, even more believable.

Frew’s performance as Harmony is hands down the most memorable one. While her arc is one of the broken ones, Frew gives her for more strength and instincts of a survivor, leaving the rest feeling battered. Cry for help and desperation are some of the other emotions to expect.

The gore effects were practical and visceral—clearly independent, yet sanguinely effective for viewers’ stomachs when the situation called for it.
